I’m Dr. Carole Griggs — an executive coach, HAI specialist advisor, adult development researcher, speaker, author, and former professor. My work sits at the intersection of human development, consciousness, and artificial intelligence.
Coaching leaders
For more than 15 years, I’ve coached thousands of leaders, including at Apple, Google X, HubSpot, Kraken, Uber, Waymo, US National Laboratories, and many Silicon Valley startups. My 1:1 coaching draws on adult developmental psychology and consciousness studies to help leaders expand self-awareness, broaden their perspective-taking, build emotional intelligence, resolve conflict effectively, and lead well under pressure.
The human side of AI
I bring this same expertise to AI. I help frontier labs, safety organizations, and product teams with the human side of AI: how models understand, respond to, and affect the people who use them. I work as a specialist advisor and research consultant, serving as a domain expert in human development and consciousness studies.
In 2026, I co-led Kairos, a preregistered, IRB-approved pilot study that found a large language model could assess a person’s developmental stage from natural conversation with high reliability (κw = 0.83). Earlier, I co-designed the dialogue for Sophia the Robot and contributed the developmental model used in the LovingAI project, part of the IBM Watson AI XPRIZE competition.
The iConscious model
I’m the founder and CEO of Carole Griggs Enterprises, LLC, and co-founder of iConscious: Accelerating Human Potential. I co-developed the iConscious model, a research-informed, integrative framework of conscious human development.
Teaching and writing
I taught as an adjunct professor and course developer in JFK University’s Master’s program in Consciousness and Transformative Studies. I’m the author of Space to See Reality: A New Model for Professional Coaches and co-author of iConscious: Accelerating Human Potential.
I hold a Ph.D. in Professional Coaching and Human Development, a Master’s in Education, and a Bachelor of Science.
